Early SA Dagger by August Merten
This is a nice early example of the SA dagger. Maker marked for August Merten of Solingen. One of the more rare makers. All fittings are tight and complete. Cross guard is Wm marked. Scabbard is the early anodized type (not painted as on the later RZM types). The scabbard retains its original hanger and also the original belt loop devise. Very interestingly, there is a small pen inking on the reverse of the wood handle with (3/45). This date was undoubtedly marked when the GI "obtained" it in March of 1945. Very inyeresting this way!
